A tragic incident unfolded in a Bronx schoolyard last week, resulting in the senseless death of 16-year-old Evette Jeffrey. Law enforcement sources have now revealed that a 14-year-old boy, believed to have supplied the gun used in the shooting, has been apprehended by the US Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The young suspect had been on the run since the fatal shooting at Morris High School on May 12. He was found at a family friend’s apartment in NYCHA’s Forest Houses on Monday morning. Charges are pending against the teenager, making him the second 14-year-old to be arrested in connection to Evette Jeffrey’s murder.

The first 14-year-old suspect, who appeared in court from a hospital bed last week, has been charged with second-degree murder. Prosecutors stated that the defendant fired multiple shots in the direction of approximately 20 school-age children, ultimately striking Evette Jeffrey in the head. The incident was captured on video, identifying the accused as the shooter.

It is reported that the shooting stemmed from a feud between two street gangs, the Forest Over Everything crew and the Kreep On Davidson gang. Evette Jeffrey was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire while seeking refuge behind a brick wall in the schoolyard.

According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, the victim was not involved in the gang dispute and was merely trying to stay safe. Evette, who was celebrating her one-year anniversary with her boyfriend at a Chinese restaurant, tragically found herself in harm’s way while at the playground.

The devastating loss of Evette has left her family and loved ones shattered. Her grandmother expressed her deep pain and lack of forgiveness towards those responsible for the violence that claimed her granddaughter’s life. She held not only the perpetrators but also their families accountable for their actions.

As the investigation continues and charges are brought against the young suspects, the community mourns the loss of a promising young life. The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of gun violence on innocent individuals and their families. May justice be served for Evette Jeffrey and may her memory be a beacon of hope for a safer and more peaceful future.
