Federal authorities have announced the arrest of two Venezuelan migrants in connection with a tragic mass shooting that occurred on December 2. The shooting took place at a house party in Gage Park, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to five others.

Ricardo Granadillo Padilla, 25, was apprehended by ICE agents in Raleigh, North Carolina, while Edward Martinez Cermeno, 24, was arrested in Schaumburg. Both men are being referred to as “suspected shooters” in the case, with officials linking them to the Tren de Aragua gang.

The incident unfolded at a residence on West 59th Street, where police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, authorities found eight individuals who had been shot, with three men tragically losing their lives. The victims were identified as Jon Carlos Blanquissett, 28, Hector Sajo, 26, and Osmer Angel Ferrer Oria, 32.

Witnesses at the scene confirmed that a birthday celebration was taking place, featuring a well-known DJ from Venezuela. The community was left reeling from the senseless violence that unfolded that evening.

In a significant development, ICE agents seized a firearm, ammunition, and other crucial pieces of evidence during Granadillo Padilla’s arrest in North Carolina. Additionally, a search of his residence in Chicago yielded fraudulent documents, narcotics, multiple firearms, and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

Martinez Cermeno, on the other hand, was initially released following his arrest in Schaumburg but was subsequently re-apprehended for being unlawfully present in the United States. Both men reportedly crossed the border near El Paso before their involvement in the tragic shooting.

Furthermore, ICE disclosed that sixteen other individuals believed to be Tren de Aragua members or associates have been detained on immigration-related charges in Chicago and Raleigh. The ongoing investigation aims to bring all those responsible for the violence to justice.
