Dwight Howard, the former NBA player, has decided to put his wrestling dreams to rest, thanks to a conversation he had with wrestling legend Ric Flair. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Howard revealed that while he hasn’t fully committed to retiring from basketball, he has no plans to pursue a career in wrestling.
Howard had previously tried out for the WWE back in 2022, and his promo video went viral, sparking speculation that he might transition to wrestling after his basketball career. However, after speaking with Ric Flair, Howard realized that wrestling may not be the best path for his body.
According to Howard, Flair advised him against pursuing a wrestling career, citing concerns about his knees and the physical toll that wrestling takes on the body. Despite the disappointment for fans who were excited about the potential storylines Howard could have brought to the WWE, they will still get to see him on television soon as he competes on this season of “Dancing With The Stars.”
As Howard prepares for his stint on ‘DWTS,’ he is focused on getting in top shape and taking his training seriously. While he may not be pursuing a career in commentary like Tom Brady, Howard mentioned that he has an interest in comedy. He expressed a desire to do stand-up comedy on an international tour, showcasing his infectious personality to fans around the world.
So while wrestling may no longer be in the cards for Dwight Howard, fans can still look forward to seeing him shine in other avenues, including on the dance floor and potentially on the comedy stage.
