Chicago police responded to two separate stabbing incidents in the South Loop and River North neighborhoods on Sunday evening, resulting in three individuals being detained.

The first incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the South Loop, where a 35-year-old man was stabbed in the arm and back during an argument at a bus stop on the 500 block of West Roosevelt Road. The suspect, a 65-year-old man, used a sharp object to attack the victim before fleeing the scene. Police were able to locate and detain the suspect in the area, while the victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition.

In a separate incident at approximately 9:20 p.m., a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the 700 block of North State Street in River North. The victim was involved in an argument with a 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old female, which escalated into a physical altercation. The suspects allegedly punched the victim repeatedly, causing him to fall to the ground where they proceeded to stab him. Despite attempting to flee, the victim was stabbed two more times. Officers applied a chest seal to control bleeding before he was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Using surveillance camera feeds, police were able to identify and locate the suspects at the Grand Red Line station before they could board a train. Charges were pending against all three suspects involved in the incident.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of public safety and the swift action taken by law enforcement to apprehend those responsible for acts of violence in the community. It is crucial for residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities to help prevent further incidents from occurring.
