Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Online Behavior with Student
A teacher at Adlai Stevenson Elementary has been arrested and jailed after engaging in explicit sexual conversations online with a 13-year-old female student from the school.
Trevon Jackson, a 27-year-old teacher, allegedly used Google Meet and the chat function on Roblox, a gaming platform, to communicate inappropriately with the young girl in February, as per prosecutors during a recent detention hearing. He is accused of instructing her to delete the messages and deny any interactions if questioned.
The investigation was initiated by Chicago police in February after Roblox notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about chats between accounts linked to Jackson and the girl, Assistant State’s Attorney Bonnie Greenstein disclosed.
According to Greenstein, Roblox provided law enforcement with chats from February 7 to February 13, which included instances of Jackson sending sexually explicit images to the girl. She also stated that he repeatedly urged her to delete messages, make denials about their conversations, and “cover their tracks.”
On February 12, Jackson allegedly sent disturbing messages to the girl, including “When I say my stick is going to go in your belly button,” “I want it in your mouth,” and “Doesn’t matter if you are 13.”
Further messages were sent the next day, with Jackson expressing regret and concern about potential consequences. He allegedly sent more explicit messages on February 15, detailing his desires for a sexual encounter with the girl. On February 16, he asked the girl if she would engage in inappropriate activities with him if she were present.
Greenstein mentioned that the girl’s email address was provided by Roblox, and detectives were able to identify her through a Chicago Public Schools database. Jackson was identified by tracking his IP address.
During interviews with school staff members, it was revealed that CPS’s Office of Inspector General was already investigating Jackson for improper electronic communications with the girl prior to the police investigation.
The girl participated in a forensic interview and disclosed details about Jackson’s behavior, confirming that he was a teacher at her school and had engaged in inappropriate conversations with her via Roblox.
Despite his defense attorney’s claims of no criminal background and pursuit of an online bachelor’s degree in computer science, Judge Shauna Boliker granted the state’s detention petition.
CPS has not provided a statement regarding the allegations or answered specific questions about Jackson’s status, the timeline of the allegations, and the procedures for handling such cases within the school system.
