Former RAW Tag Team Champion Omos recently opened up about his decision to wrestle in Japan while still under contract with WWE. The towering superstar has been absent from WWE programming since early last year, but his time in Japan has been eventful.

Following his appearance in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the April 5, 2024, episode of SmackDown, Omos made the bold move to Japan to compete in Pro Wrestling NOAH. It turned out to be a fruitful venture for the 33-year-old as he captured the GHC Tag Team Championship alongside Jack Morris. Despite his success, Omos has not been seen in action for any promotion since January 2025.

In a recent interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Omos shared that his decision to go to Japan was inspired by his WWE colleagues Tavion Heights and Josh Briggs, who had also made the journey overseas. He was particularly surprised and honored when Japanese legend Great Muta expressed a desire to face him in the ring.

Omos also revealed that it was WWE producer Road Dogg who presented him with the opportunity to wrestle in Japan, and he was grateful for not turning it down. He emphasized the importance of the experience and how it was a necessary step in his career.

When asked about his potential return to WWE TV, Omos admitted that he was unsure about the timeline but assured fans that he was prepared for a comeback whenever the opportunity arose. As a former RAW Tag Team Champion, Omos remains a special attraction in the eyes of the WWE Universe, and his return is eagerly anticipated.

The unique experiences and challenges faced in the Japanese wrestling scene have undoubtedly shaped him as a performer, and it will be interesting to see how he carries that forward in his future endeavors.

In conclusion, Omos’s journey to Japan while under contract with WWE has been a significant development in his wrestling career. With his eyes set on a potential return to the Stamford-based promotion, fans can expect to see a reinvigorated and determined Omos make his mark once again in the world of professional wrestling.
