Dallas star Linda Gray has teamed up once again with TV movie executive producer Larry Thompson to pitch a new spooky film set at the iconic Southfork Ranch. The real-life location served as the backdrop for the popular 1980s primetime soap opera “Dallas.” Gray and Thompson previously collaborated on the successful Lifetime TV movie “Ladies of the 80s: A Divas Christmas.”
In this new project, Gray, along with the possibility of her Dallas co-star Patrick Duffy, will portray poltergeists haunting Southfork Ranch. They will be portraying entirely new characters, separate from their iconic roles in “Dallas.” The use of Southfork Ranch as the filming location adds an authentic touch to the story. Despite the familiar casting choices and potential references to “Dallas,” the film has no direct connection to the TV series.
The script for the film was penned by former Hallmark Channel producer William Keck, who has recently released his memoir “When You Step Upon a Star” as a former tabloid reporter. The storyline follows Gray and Duffy as ghosts who become entangled in supernatural events when a young pop star arrives at the estate to shoot a Christmas music video. The ghosts conspire to prevent her from falling in love with the charming caretaker of the property, adding a festive twist to the plot.
If Gray and Duffy both agree to star in the film, it would mark another reunion for the “Dallas” stars. The original CBS run of the show lasted from 1978 to 1993, followed by a revival on TNT from 2012 to 2014, which ended due to the passing of star Larry Hagman.
Despite the show’s cancellation, “Dallas” continues to have a dedicated fan base. An upcoming cast reunion meet-and-greet fan event is scheduled to take place at Southfork Ranch on October 25 to 27, with Gray and Duffy expected to attend. A previous “Dallas” reunion occurred in Burbank this past March, further highlighting the enduring popularity of the series among fans.
The new film project promises to bring a fresh and intriguing spin to the familiar setting of Southfork Ranch, offering audiences a blend of nostalgia and supernatural suspense. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting collaboration between Linda Gray, Larry Thompson, and William Keck.
