A man from California is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting at a vehicle occupied by three teenage boys who had thrown eggs at his house. Craig Miceli, 54, was arrested on Sunday for firing shots at the SUV carrying the high school boys. Miceli claimed that the teens had previously spilled oil on his porch and returned to egg his house. He mentioned that his daughter had been bullied at school, which added to his frustration. Miceli admitted to aiming at the vehicle’s tires when he fired two shots from his handgun, one of which hit the front passenger side panel. After the incident, Miceli threw his gun into Water Dog Lake, where it was later recovered by police along with an illegal automatic rifle from his home. He has been charged with multiple felonies including assault with a firearm, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and unlawful possession of an assault weapon. Miceli pleaded not guilty to all charges and is scheduled to appear in court on June 9.

This incident is part of a disturbing trend in the U.S. where people have been shot, and sometimes killed, over pranks. In 2023, a 14-year-old girl in Louisiana was shot in the head while playing hide-and-seek on a neighbor’s property. Fortunately, her injuries were not life-threatening. Similarly, a Tennessee man was accused of brandishing a gun at teens playing a doorbell prank in the same year. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the potential dangers and consequences of seemingly harmless pranks.
