Nationwide Murder Rates Continue to Plummet Under Trump Administration

The United States is experiencing a significant decrease in murder rates for the third consecutive year, with projections suggesting that 2025 could see the lowest number of per capita killings on record. According to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, this decline in violent crime can be attributed to President Trump’s tough stance on crime and unwavering support for law enforcement.

Since President Trump took office, the murder rate has steadily decreased across the entire country. In 2014, the lowest murder rate since 1960 was recorded, with 4.46 killings per 100,000 Americans. By 2023, the murder rate had dropped to 5.75 per 100,000, marking a significant decline from the peak of 6.83 per 100,000 in 2020. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and widespread racial unrest in 2020 contributed to the temporary spike in violence.

In 2024, the homicide rate continued to decrease to 4.97 per 100,000, below the rates recorded in 2018 and 2019. The Real-Time Crime Index, maintained by AH Datalytics, reported a further 21.6% drop in murders in the first three months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Independent analyst Jeff Asher predicts that if this trend continues, 2025 could witness the lowest murder rate ever recorded in the United States.

President Trump has made cracking down on crime a cornerstone of his administration, particularly focusing on crimes committed by illegal migrants. In a symbolic gesture, the White House displayed 100 mugshots of deported illegal aliens along with lists of their alleged crimes. FBI spokesperson Ben Williamson emphasized that the administration’s support for law enforcement has equipped federal agencies to combat violent crime effectively.

The decline in murder rates is not limited to the national level but is also evident in major cities across the country. New York City reported a 28.2% decrease in year-to-date murders, with a significant drop compared to previous years. Philadelphia, a city known for its high crime rates, saw a 14.7% reduction in murders. Similar trends were observed in Chicago (23% decline), Baltimore (24% decline), and New Orleans (25% decline).

The concerted efforts to tackle violent crime and support law enforcement have yielded promising results, with communities across the country experiencing a decrease in murder rates. The Trump administration’s tough stance on crime and commitment to public safety continue to drive these positive outcomes, paving the way for a safer and more secure America.
