Thunder Code: The Next Venture of Expensya Founders

In 2023, the co-founders Karim Jouini and Jihed Othmani made headlines by selling their expense management startup, Expensya, to Swedish procurement software firm Medius in a deal rumored to be over $120 million. Following this success, both founders initially swore off entrepreneurship, with Jouini taking on a CTO role in the merged company.

However, the allure of a new technological frontier – generative AI – proved too strong to resist, prompting the duo to launch Thunder Code. This AI-powered software testing platform has already secured $9 million in seed funding and is poised to make waves in the industry.

Jouini shared his excitement about the new venture, likening it to the challenges and rewards of raising a second child. Thunder Code’s approach to software testing involves AI-powered agents that simulate human testers, providing faster and more efficient QA processes.

Building on lessons learned from Expensya, Jouini emphasized the importance of speed and early investment in top talent. He believes that Thunder Code’s AI capabilities will enable the company to deliver exceptional value with a leaner team.

Despite the transition from expense management to software development tools, Jouini is confident in Thunder Code’s potential to disrupt the market. With a projected market size exceeding $100 billion by 2027, the company aims to differentiate itself through agile AI implementation.

Headquartered in Paris with an office in Tunis, Thunder Code faces stiff competition in the software testing space. However, with Othmani’s expertise in generative AI and a strong investor lineup including former Expensya stakeholders, the company is well-positioned for rapid growth.

Thunder Code’s rapid progress and market potential have attracted attention from industry veterans and emerging startups alike. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, the company is poised to reshape the software testing landscape.

As Thunder Code continues to evolve, its founders remain committed to pushing boundaries and delivering cutting-edge solutions in the ever-changing tech landscape.
