Wild Incident Involving Drunk DoorDash Driver and Granddad Caught on Video
A shocking video has surfaced showing a DoorDash driver getting into a physical altercation with a grandfather after allegedly showing up at his home with a gun to demand a tip for a previous delivery. The incident took place in Vancouver, Washington, and has left both parties shaken.
The customer, Anthony Volino, was enjoying breakfast with his grandchildren when the driver unexpectedly arrived at his doorstep, claiming that Volino’s daughter owed him a tip for a grocery order he had delivered the night before. Volino immediately noticed the driver’s intoxicated state and refused to comply with his demands.
As tensions escalated, Volino realized that the driver was armed, prompting him to take action to protect himself and his family. In a moment of bravery, Volino managed to disarm the driver and remove the bullets from the gun, all while the scuffle continued.
Both men eventually called 911, and the driver, identified as Robert Delehant, 59, was arrested and charged with felony harassment, driving under the influence, and assault. Fortunately, no one was injured during the altercation, but the incident has left Volino and his family in shock.
DoorDash confirmed that Delehant was one of its drivers and emphasized that they have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. The company swiftly deactivated Delehant’s account in response to the incident.
Volino expressed disbelief at the events that transpired, highlighting the potential danger that could have resulted from the altercation. He emphasized that his daughter had already tipped the driver through the DoorDash app, making Delehant’s demands for cash unwarranted.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety and professionalism in the gig economy, with companies like DoorDash taking swift action to address any misconduct by their drivers. Moving forward, it is crucial for both customers and delivery drivers to prioritize respect and communication to avoid similar confrontations.
