A federal judge has issued an order to halt the deportation of the wife and five children of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian man charged in the firebombing attack in Boulder over the weekend.

U.S. District Judge Gordon P. Gallagher granted a request from Soliman’s family to prevent the deportation of his wife, Hayam Salah Alsaid Ahmed El Gamal, 41, and their five children, who were taken into custody by U.S. immigration officials on Tuesday.

In the order issued at 2:01 p.m., Gallagher stated, “Defendants SHALL NOT REMOVE Hayem El Gamal and her five children from the District of Colorado or the United States unless or until this Court or the Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit vacates this order.”

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the detention of Soliman’s wife, 18-year-old daughter, and four minor children, who are Egyptian citizens. Soliman is accused of carrying out a terror attack on the Pearl Street Mall, injuring fifteen people and a dog during a demonstration.

Soliman arrived in the U.S. in August 2022 on a tourist visa that expired in February 2023. He overstayed his visa and applied for political asylum in September 2022, receiving work authorization in March 2023, which also expired.

This story is developing and will be updated.
