Wildcard Lois Boisson captured the hearts of the French Open crowd once again with a stunning victory over sixth-seeded Russian Mirra Andreeva, securing a spot in the semi-finals in straight sets. Meanwhile, men’s world No 1 Jannik Sinner advanced past Alexander Bublik with ease.

Sinner extended his Grand Slam winning streak to 19 matches, adding to his back-to-back titles at the US Open and Australian Open. On the other hand, Boisson, who was ranked 361st at the beginning of the tournament, delivered a dazzling performance that thrilled the home fans.

In the upcoming semi-finals, Sinner will face either three-time French Open champion Novak Djokovic or Germany’s third seed Alexander Zverev. Sinner, the first Italian man to reach six Grand Slam semi-finals, showcased his dominance by defeating Bublik in straight sets.

Boisson’s remarkable journey continued as she pulled off the biggest upset of the tournament by defeating Andreeva in a thrilling match. The French sensation, who had already beaten third seed Jessica Pegula in the previous round, continued her impressive form by outplaying Andreeva, who had not dropped a set in the competition.

The 22-year-old underdog expressed her ambitions of winning the title, stating, “Every tennis player dreams of winning a Slam – and for a French player, Roland Garros even more so.” Boisson’s powerful forehand and determined playstyle kept Andreeva on the back foot throughout the match.

As Boisson’s fairy-tale run continues, she will face off against 2023 US Open champion Coco Gauff in the semi-finals. Gauff secured her spot by overcoming Australian Open champion Madison Keys in a match filled with unforced errors. The clash between Boisson and Gauff promises to be a thrilling encounter.

In another exciting showdown, top seed Aryna Sabalenka and reigning champion Iga Swiatek are set to face off in the semi-finals. Sabalenka’s consistency in Grand Slams and Swiatek’s dominance on clay make this a highly anticipated match-up. The two players have developed a friendly rivalry, adding an extra layer of intrigue to their upcoming battle on the Parisian clay.

As the French Open reaches its climax, the stage is set for thrilling semi-final matches that will showcase the best of women’s and men’s tennis.
