Trump Launches Probe into Biden Aides Over Alleged Mental Decline Cover-Up
President Donald Trump has taken a bold step in launching a probe into aides of Joe Biden for allegedly concealing his mental decline. This move is seen as part of Trump’s ongoing effort to seek retribution against his political foes.
In an executive order issued on Wednesday, Trump announced that the White House counsel will investigate whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unlawfully exercised the powers and responsibilities of the president.
The investigation comes in the wake of a recently published book by journalists Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, which sheds light on damaging revelations about Biden’s declining mental and physical health during his campaign for re-election.
Trump has been particularly focused on claims that Biden’s staffers had him sign documents using electronic signatures or an autopen without his knowledge. Throughout his election campaign, Trump had vowed to look into the actions of his predecessor.
The executive order stated that there is mounting evidence that Biden’s aides misused the power of presidential signatures by using an autopen to hide Biden’s cognitive decline.
Responding to the probe, Biden vehemently denied any wrongdoing, stating that he made all decisions during his presidency and dismissing the allegations as ridiculous and false.
Following his departure from office, the 82-year-old former president has given interviews defending his legacy. In one interview, he claimed he could have defeated Trump if he had stayed in the race, despite struggling in the polls and during debates.
Biden’s re-emergence has faced criticism from Democratic operatives who believe it is hindering the party’s efforts to regroup after the presidential defeat in November, bringing renewed attention to his alleged decline.
Trump’s Distraction Tactics
During a recent appearance on ABC’s The View, Biden stumbled when addressing claims of cognitive lapses, prompting his wife Jill to intervene. In response to Trump’s probe, Biden accused the former president and Congressional Republicans of using it as a distraction from their push for legislation that could harm American families.
Trump’s executive order was just one of several actions announced by the White House, including a ban on citizens from 12 countries entering the US. The political landscape continues to be fraught with tension as both sides engage in a battle for power and control.
