Thieves Strike Magnificent Mile Store in Early Morning Burglary

In a rare occurrence, a group of burglars targeted the Alo store located at 717 North Michigan Avenue in the early hours of Thursday morning. The upscale yoga store, known for its high-end athletic wear and accessories, was the focus of the thieves’ attention.

According to reports, an off-site security officer alerted the authorities shortly before 4:30 a.m. after noticing suspicious activity on the store’s surveillance camera feed. The footage revealed four individuals wearing ski masks and hoodies, pilfering items from the store’s sales floor.

Upon arrival, Chicago police discovered a side door with shattered glass, indicating forced entry by the burglars. By the time law enforcement reached the scene, the perpetrators had already absconded with a significant amount of merchandise from the store. Witnesses in the vicinity reported seeing a black SUV fleeing the area, although the police have not confirmed its connection to the burglary.

Alo is known for its luxury activewear, with items such as crew socks priced at $32 per pair and performance baseball hats retailing for $68. The store’s high-end offerings make it an attractive target for thieves looking to make a quick profit.

The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by retail establishments in the Magnificent Mile and Oak Street areas, where theft and property crimes have been a longstanding issue. Despite efforts to enhance security measures and deter criminal activity, brazen acts of burglary continue to occur, posing a threat to businesses and residents alike.

Authorities are actively investigating the incident in hopes of apprehending the suspects involved in the burglary. In the meantime, businesses in the area are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard their premises against future break-ins.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this latest crime, it underscores the importance of public safety and the need for collaborative efforts to combat criminal activity in the bustling commercial district of the Magnificent Mile.
