Figo pet insurance has received a rating of 2.7 out of 5 stars, indicating some shortcomings but also some positive aspects to consider. While Figo offers a solid range of coverage, there are a few downsides to be aware of. Additional coverage for vet exam fees and alternative care (such as acupuncture, chiropractic, and magnet therapy) requires the purchase of “Powerups.” Furthermore, Figo’s average costs are 14% above average compared to other insurers.

Despite these drawbacks, Figo does have some advantages worth mentioning. It is the only pet insurer in the analysis that offers a 100% reimbursement option, although this cannot be combined with the unlimited annual policy. Figo also provides a low $100 deductible option for those looking to minimize out-of-pocket costs. Additionally, Figo has a unique policy regarding preexisting conditions – if a curable condition has been cured and there have been no symptoms or treatment for 12 months, it will no longer be excluded from coverage (excluding ligament and knee conditions).

Figo’s pet insurance policy covers a wide range of potential issues, excluding an accident-only policy but offering the option to add a wellness plan for routine care expenses like vaccinations. The accident and illness policy includes coverage for hereditary and congenital conditions, cancer, diagnostics such as X-rays and ultrasounds, dental accidents and illnesses, behavioral therapy, prescription drugs, and euthanasia when necessary.

Figo’s Wellness Powerup provides coverage for various conditions, excluding preexisting conditions unless they are curable. A preexisting condition is defined as a chronic condition observed by you or a vet before the plan start date, an illness or injury that occurred within the 12 months prior to the policy start date, or an undiagnosed condition with similar clinical signs. However, curable preexisting conditions can be covered if the pet has been symptom-free and treatment-free for at least 12 months prior.

Figo customers have access to a 24/7 vet helpline through the Pet Cloud mobile app, where they can chat with veterinary professionals about their pet’s health, behavior, or emergencies. Figo’s policy does not cover certain expenses, including preventative care, holistic treatments, grooming, and injuries caused by negligence.

To file a claim with Figo, customers can submit it online through the Pet Cloud app or website, or by downloading the claim form and emailing it to the company. Claims must be submitted within 180 days from the vet visit date, with reimbursements typically processed within 30 days. The Pet Cloud app also allows users to store digital vet records and connect with other pet owners.

While Figo’s average premium rates are higher than many competitors, they do offer a 5% multi-pet discount for insuring more than one pet. The company does not pay vets directly, operating on a reimbursement model where customers pay the bill and then submit it for reimbursement.

In conclusion, Figo pet insurance provides comprehensive coverage with some unique features and drawbacks. Customers should carefully consider their needs and budget before choosing a policy with Figo.
