Warner Bros. Discovery Nordics has announced the release of a new documentary series titled “Most Wanted: Teen Hacker,” which will premiere this September on their streaming platform, Max. The series will focus on the criminal activities of Julius Kivimäki, a Finnish hacker who has been labeled as one of the most dangerous cybercriminals by the FBI.

The teaser for the series sheds light on Kivimäki’s early start in cybercrime at the age of 15, showcasing his notorious hacks such as targeting Elon Musk, orchestrating a global shutdown of PlayStation, and causing a U.S. Air Force alert by forcing a passenger jet to make an emergency landing. The documentary will delve into Kivimäki’s decade-long crime spree, which included SWAT attacks and other audacious hacks.

Filmed across locations in the U.S. and U.K., the series will feature interviews with FBI agents, SWAT team members, cybersecurity experts, Kivimäki’s victims, internationally known hackers, and Kivimäki himself, who is currently serving time in prison. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Sami Kieksi and co-written with Joni Soila, the series is produced by Aller Studios, a part of the Nordic media group Aller Media Nordic.

Pil Brandstrup, group VP of original production networks and streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery Nordics, described the series as a powerful example of Nordic storytelling with global relevance. “Most Wanted: Teen Hacker” aims to shed light on the critical issue of cybercrime and its impact on society. The series will present a multi-perspective narrative by providing insights from various stakeholders in the cybercrime landscape.

The four-part documentary series will be released weekly on Fridays exclusively on Max. The series was commissioned by Brandstrup and Katja Santala, director of original production networks and streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery Finland. Aller Studios, known for developing and producing entertainment and documentary content, specializes in branded entertainment and is part of the Aller Media Nordic group.
