Two Fox Dramas, “The Cleaning Lady” and “Alert: Missing Persons Unit,” Canceled

It has been confirmed by Variety that both “The Cleaning Lady” and “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” have been canceled by Fox. “The Cleaning Lady” had a successful run of four seasons on the network, while “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” aired for three seasons before its cancellation. Both shows concluded with their respective season finales in the past two weeks.

During Fox’s upfront presentation to advertisers in May, the fate of “Cleaning Lady” and “Alert” was uncertain. Now, these two shows join the ranks of other canceled Fox dramas, including “Rescue: Hi-Surf.”

Fox recently renewed long-running animated series like “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “Family Guy” for massive four-season renewals. Additionally, “American Dad” returned to the network, and the medical drama “Doc” was renewed for a second season. Fox has also picked up new shows like the one-hour comedy “Best Medicine,” dramatic thriller “Memory of a Killer,” and the multi-part scripted event “The Faithful.”

“The Cleaning Lady” was adapted from the Argentine format “La chica que limpia.” The series starred Élodie Yung as Thony, a former surgeon turned undocumented immigrant in the U.S. who becomes entangled in a criminal organization after witnessing a murder. The cast also included Martha Millan, Kate Del Castillo, Santiago Cabrera, and others. The show was produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, with Daniel Cerone serving as showrunner for Season 4.

On the other hand, “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” was a procedural set in the Philadelphia Police Department’s missing persons unit. The series featured actors like Scott Caan, Dania Ramirez, and Adeola Role. It was co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment, with Carla Kettner as showrunner and executive producer.

Despite the cancellations of these two shows, Fox continues to expand its lineup with a mix of new and returning series, catering to a diverse audience.
