The New York Society of Women Artists (NYSWA) has been a leading force in women-led artistic innovation since its establishment in 1925. Their upcoming centennial exhibition, “Into the NOW – The Time of Our Lives,” set to open on June 24 at Manhattan’s Ceres Gallery, showcases the visionary creativity, resilience, and significance of women artists today. According to NYSWA President Lori Horowitz, the centennial is not just a reflection of history but a living testament to the power of women’s voices in the art world. “We are moving forward with purpose, passion, and vision,” she states.

Each artwork in the exhibition addresses the artist’s role as an advocate, both individually and collectively, in facing the pressing questions and challenges of our time. Renowned art critic Eleanor Heartney, in the NYSWA Centennial catalog, praises the Society as a vibrant force for innovation, advocacy, and artistic excellence, rooted in the legacy of its suffragist predecessors. Natalie Giugni, NYSWA Advisory Chair, emphasizes that the exhibition celebrates this legacy while also serving as a call to action, uniting diverse voices and increasing visibility for women artists.

Participating Artists

The exhibition features a diverse lineup of talented artists, including Kelynn Z. Alder, Ellen Alt, Barbara Arum, Fran Beallor, and many more. The range of artistic styles and perspectives promises a rich and engaging experience for visitors.

Exhibition Dates: June 24–July 19

Opening Reception: June 26, 6–8pm

Artists Talk: July 10, 5:30–8pm

Location:
Ceres Gallery
547 W 27th St., #201, New York, NY
Open Tues–Sat, 12–6pm
