HBO Max to Expand Global Reach with Launch in 12 New Countries

A day after Warner Bros. Discovery announced its plan to split into two publicly traded companies, HBO Max has revealed its upcoming launch in 12 new countries. The streaming service will soon be available in Albania, Armenia, Cyprus, Estonia, Georgia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, and Tajikistan, expanding its reach to 100 markets worldwide.

Starting in July, HBO Max will offer a wide range of content in these markets, including titles from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, and Max Originals. Subscribers can look forward to popular movies like the Harry Potter series, hit shows like “The Last of Us” and “The White Lotus,” as well as upcoming series such as “Task” and “IT: Welcome to Derry.”

In addition to entertainment content, HBO Max will also feature a sports roster in select countries, offering coverage of tennis tournaments like the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and cycling events such as the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia.

The streaming service will be available in these new markets through two subscription plans, a standard one and a premium one. Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO and president of global streaming & games, JB Perrette, expressed excitement about the continued expansion of HBO Max, stating that each new market further solidifies the platform as a global entertainment destination.

Despite the company’s growth in streaming subscribers, Warner Bros. Discovery is facing challenges in its overall business and significant debt. The decision to split into two separate entities, one focused on streaming and content production and the other on traditional television, reflects the company’s efforts to adapt to the evolving media landscape.
