Felicity Huffman has officially signed on for a role in the upcoming second season of the Fox series “Doc”. The actress will be portraying Dr. Joan Ridley, a character who is described as Amy Larsen’s med school professor and early mentor, as well as the new Chief of Internal Medicine at Westside Hospital.

The star-studded cast of “Doc” Season 2 also includes Molly Parker, Omar Metwally, Jon Ecker, Amirah Vann, Anya Banerjee, Patrick Walker, and Charlotte Fountain-Jardim.

This role marks Huffman’s return to Fox, following her recent guest appearance on the network’s anthology drama “Accused”. The actress is best known for her Emmy-nominated performances in shows like “Desperate Housewives” and “American Crime”, as well as her Academy Award-nominated role in the film “Transamerica”.

In the upcoming season, viewers can expect to follow Dr. Amy Larsen (played by Molly Parker) as she navigates rebuilding her life after a car accident erases eight years of her memory. Stripped of her title as Chief of Internal Medicine, Amy must start over as an intern in order to reclaim her former glory. The season promises to delve into the hard truths of her missing years, mend broken relationships, and reconcile her past self with the person she is now.

“Doc” is based on the Italian series “Nelle tue mani” and is produced by Lux Vide, a Fremantle Company. The show is co-showrun by Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg, with a team of executive producers including Erwin Stoff, Russell Fine, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Carol Barbee, and David Foster. Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment Studios are behind the production of the series.
