Khaby Lame, known for his comedic TikTok content, was recently detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Lame, 25, gained popularity in Italy for his humorous TikTok videos, amassing a large following on the platform.

Last month, he attended the Met Gala in New York City but ran into visa issues during his visit to the U.S.

ICE officials confirmed that Lame was detained for overstaying his visa but was later allowed to leave the country voluntarily.

Requests for comment from Lame and his team have not been answered, and his social media accounts have not addressed the incident.

ICE stated that Lame entered the U.S. legally but exceeded the permitted duration of his visa stay.

Details about the visa’s validity were not provided beyond what was mentioned in the official statement.

Lame was granted voluntary departure and has since left the U.S., according to ICE.

Such departures do not result in removal orders or other immigration consequences, as per ICE guidelines.

Born in Senegal and raised in Italy, Lame recently acquired Italian citizenship.

His rise to fame began during the COVID-19 lockdown, with his TikTok videos gaining widespread acclaim for their humor and relatable content.

Lame’s unique style and ability to poke fun at social media influencers have endeared him to millions of followers around the world.
