Concealed Carry Holder Stops Armed Robbery Spree in Humboldt Park

An 18-year-old man involved in an armed robbery and carjacking spree met his end when he confronted a concealed carry license holder in Humboldt Park on Tuesday night. The deceased criminal’s identity has not been disclosed by Chicago police, but Cook County Medical Examiner records confirm his age.

Police investigations revealed a stolen Toyota at the scene of the shooting, along with stolen items from two women who had just been robbed nearby. It was evident that the concealed carry holder had put an end to a series of robberies in progress.

Prior to the shooting incident, at around 10:30 p.m., a man was robbed at gunpoint near Fulton and Kilpatrick in Austin, with the suspect driving off in the victim’s gray 2025 Toyota Corolla, according to a preliminary CPD report.

Shortly after, at approximately 10:43 p.m., two women aged 27 were robbed at gunpoint on the 2500 block of West Haddon in Humboldt Park. The victims recounted a man getting out of a car with a firearm, demanding their belongings, and fleeing with their purses, phones, and wallets.

For his final act, the robber arrived on the 1400 block of North Artesian at 10:48 p.m., attempting to rob a 36-year-old concealed carry holder who was unloading a vehicle on the block, as per CPD reports.

When the robber brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s possessions, the victim drew his own firearm and shot the robber multiple times in the chest and head. The robber was rushed to Stroger Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Further investigations confirmed that the stolen Toyota used by the deceased robber belonged to the initial victim. Additionally, personal items belonging to the two female robbery victims were found inside the vehicle, according to sources.
