HBO and Max have added a plethora of exciting titles in June, but it might surprise you to learn that very few of them have scored over 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Even some of the movies we consider to be classics, such as “Casino” starring Robert De Niro and “Fight Club” with Brad Pitt, only received scores of 78 percent and 67 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, respectively. However, it’s essential to note that a high RT score doesn’t always reflect the impact a film has on its audience, especially for older titles that predate Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite this, the Watch With Us team has managed to unearth three new HBO Max films that have received over 90 percent scores on Rotten Tomatoes. These selections include an acclaimed documentary, a sci-fi/horror gem from the ’70s, and the surprise winner of the Best Picture at the Oscars in 2019.

“I Am Not Your Negro” (2016) is a documentary narrated by Samuel L. Jackson that delves into the work of civil rights activist James Baldwin. The film explores race relations in America, focusing on the experiences of Black Americans and the systemic racism they face. Baldwin’s profound insights, even decades after his death, remain relevant in today’s society, making “I Am Not Your Negro” a must-watch. The documentary is available for streaming on Max.

“Invasion of the Body Snatchers” (1978) is a sci-fi/horror classic that follows the story of Elizabeth Driscoll and Matthew Bennell, who discover that their friends and family are being replaced by emotionless alien duplicates. As the world falls under the control of these alien invaders, the remaining survivors must fight for their lives. The film’s chilling ending has become iconic in the sci-fi genre. “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” can be streamed on Max.

“Parasite” (2019) made history by becoming the first South Korean film to win the Best Picture at the Oscars. Directed by Bong Joon-ho, the film follows the Kim family, who scheme their way into working for the wealthy Park family. As they infiltrate the Park household, the Kims must navigate a web of deception to maintain their newfound prosperity. With a stellar cast and darkly comedic tone, “Parasite” is a gripping and thought-provoking watch. The film is available for streaming on Max.

In conclusion, while Rotten Tomatoes scores are a valuable indicator of a film’s critical reception, they shouldn’t be the sole measure of its quality. The three aforementioned films showcase that exceptional storytelling and impactful performances can transcend numerical ratings. If you’re looking for engaging and thought-provoking content, these films on HBO Max are definitely worth a watch. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a drastic change in the way we live our lives. From wearing masks and practicing social distancing to working remotely and attending virtual events, the pandemic has forced us to adapt to a new normal. One of the biggest changes that has occurred as a result of the pandemic is the way we shop.

Before the pandemic, shopping was a social activity that many people enjoyed. Whether it was browsing through stores at the mall, trying on clothes in a fitting room, or grabbing a coffee with friends while out shopping, it was an experience that brought people together. However, the pandemic has changed all of that.

With lockdowns and restrictions in place, many physical stores were forced to close their doors, pushing consumers to turn to online shopping instead. According to a report by Adobe Analytics, online shopping saw a 77% increase in May 2020 compared to the previous year. This shift to online shopping has not only been out of necessity but also out of convenience.

Online shopping offers a wide range of benefits, such as the ability to shop from the comfort of your own home, access to a larger selection of products, and the convenience of having items delivered right to your doorstep. Additionally, many retailers have implemented contactless delivery options to ensure the safety of their customers during the pandemic.

As a result of the increase in online shopping, many retailers have had to adapt their business models to meet the changing demands of consumers. This has led to an increase in the use of technology, such as augmented reality and virtual try-on tools, to provide customers with a more interactive shopping experience. Retailers have also had to invest in their e-commerce platforms to ensure a seamless shopping experience for their customers.

Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, the shift to online shopping has also presented opportunities for retailers to reach a wider audience and expand their customer base. Many retailers have seen an increase in online sales during the pandemic, with some even reporting record-breaking numbers.

Overall, the COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped the way we shop, pushing us to embrace the convenience and efficiency of online shopping. While physical stores may eventually reopen and shopping may return to some semblance of normalcy, the impact of the pandemic on the retail industry is likely to be long-lasting. As we continue to navigate through these uncertain times, it is clear that the future of shopping is online.
