Chris Kreider, a long-time player for the New York Rangers, has bid farewell to the team as he was traded to the Anaheim Ducks in a recent deal. The trade saw the Rangers acquire center prospect Carey Terrance and a 2025 third-round pick in exchange for Kreider. Additionally, the Ducks also received a 2025 fourth-round pick as part of the trade. Despite having a 15-team no-trade list, Kreider agreed to the move, marking the end of his 13-season tenure with the Rangers.

During his time with the Rangers, Kreider established himself as a key player, scoring 326 goals and tying the team’s record for most power-play goals. He played 883 regular-season games and 123 playoff games for New York, contributing significantly to the team’s success, including their run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2014.

The Rangers are not retaining any part of Kreider’s $6.5 million cap hit, freeing up nearly $15 million in cap space. This trade with the Ducks marks the second major deal between the two teams in the past year, as the Rangers had previously sent Jacob Trouba to Anaheim in December.

The Ducks, who were looking to bolster their offense after a lackluster season, were pleased to add Kreider to their roster. With only 217 goals scored last season, ranking near the bottom of the league, Kreider’s 22 goals would have tied for the team lead in Anaheim.

Despite facing injuries during the past season, including back spasms, vertigo, and a potential hand surgery, Kreider remained a valuable asset on the ice. Known for his strong play in front of the net and his speed, Kreider also served as a mentor to younger players on the Rangers’ roster.

Prior to the trade, Kreider expressed his desire to stay with the Rangers, calling the team his home and expressing his commitment to helping them win games. However, with this new chapter in Anaheim, Kreider will bring his experience and skills to the Ducks as they aim to improve their performance in the upcoming season.

In conclusion, Chris Kreider’s departure from the Rangers marks the end of an era for the veteran player, while also opening up new opportunities for both teams involved in the trade. As Kreider embarks on a new journey with the Ducks, fans will be eager to see how his presence impacts their lineup and performance on the ice.
