Chicago police have issued a community alert for one of the city’s busiest nightlife districts following two robberies that occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning. The incidents took place in the first two blocks of West Kinzie Street, one right after the other, just before 2 a.m., according to the Chicago Police Department.
According to the police alert, three men targeted lone, unsuspecting victims in public and used physical force to steal property from them. Both victims were physically assaulted, with one victim reporting that the robbers impersonated police officers during the approach. The suspects were described as Black males in their 20s with dreadlocks, standing between 5’10” and 6 feet tall and weighing 175 to 185 pounds.
This alarming incident serves as a reminder for residents and visitors to stay vigilant and be aware of their surroundings, especially in high-traffic areas like West Kinzie Street. It is crucial to take precautions such as walking in well-lit areas, staying in groups, and being cautious of strangers approaching.
