Sen. Sanders is gearing up for his “Fighting Oligarchy: Where We Go From Here” tour, which next weekend will make its way to the South, including a notable stop in the hometown of House Speaker Mike Johnson:
On his upcoming tour, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will address the alarming trend of billionaire influence on our government and the encroachment of authoritarianism. Special guests like Representative Greg Casar (D-Tx.) and Beto O’Rourke will join him in Texas.
Targeting deeply Republican districts, including the Speaker’s own locale in Louisiana, Sanders’ tour is more than just a series of speeches; it’s a strategic pressure campaign. The objective? To compel vulnerable Republicans to reject cuts to essential services like Medicaid, housing assistance, nutrition, and education—all in the service of preserving tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.
Musical acts will include Lunar Heart and El Dusty in McAllen; Sweet Crude in Shreveport; The Get Up Kids and Parker Millsap in Tulsa; and the Old 97’s and MSB Choir in Fort Worth.
While tickets are not required for attendance, the Sanders team encourages RSVPs via his website to ensure proper crowd accommodations. Previous events on this tour have seen such high demand that venues had to be upgraded to accommodate the swelling numbers.
Holding an event in Speaker Mike Johnson’s hometown sends a resounding message to the elite.
