Exercise in Young Adulthood Crucial for Heart Health in Later Years
Research indicates that maintaining a high level of physical activity in young adulthood is key to preventing hypertension in middle age. A study of over 5,000 individuals across four US cities revealed that social factors can impact one’s ability to sustain exercise habits as they age.
Lead author Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) emphasized the importance of consistent physical activity throughout life, stating that “maintaining physical activity during young adulthood at higher levels than previously recommended may be particularly important for preventing hypertension.”
