Tragedy struck early Monday morning as a 9-year-old boy lost his life in a devastating accident on U.S. 50 near Pueblo. According to the Colorado State Patrol, the boy was fatally struck by the driver of a semitrailer while attempting to cross the highway.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:27 a.m., before sunrise, as the boy was trying to cross from the Oakwood Estates Mobile Home Park. The driver of the westbound semitrailer hit the boy near milepost 323, resulting in his tragic death at the scene, as confirmed by state patrol officials in a news release on Monday.

The truck driver, a resident of the Pueblo area, remained at the scene following the collision. Currently, no charges have been filed against the driver, and the authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the crash.
