Yes, absolutely. I wanted someone who was not just a check writer, but someone who was a true partner in the business. Someone who would roll up their sleeves and work alongside the founders, sharing in the ups and downs of building a company. I wanted to create a firm that had a deep commitment to entrepreneurship, almost a cult-like dedication to supporting and empowering founders. And that’s exactly what Inspired Capital is all about.

We invest in early-stage companies across a variety of industries, but I have a special passion for fintech. I truly believe that the next wave of innovation in fintech will come from fundamental product reinvention, not just superficial tweaks. We need tools that can meet the needs of a changing economy and a more diverse, digitally native population. That’s where the real impact will be made.

I’m incredibly excited about the future of Inspired Capital and the companies we have the privilege of working with. I feel both urgent and optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead, and I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years will bring.

And with my new podcast, “Inspired with Alexa von Tobel,” I hope to share the stories and insights of inspiring entrepreneurs and innovators with a wider audience. I want to continue to be a source of inspiration and support for the next generation of founders, just as I had hoped for when I was starting out on my own entrepreneurial journey.

Overall, I am proud of the journey I have been on so far, and I am excited for what the future holds. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and the people I have met along the way. Here’s to the next 10 years of innovation, growth, and success!

Launching LearnVest at the JS 50 conference in 2009 was a pivotal moment for me as an entrepreneur. It was a moment where I felt the weight of responsibility on my shoulders to not only present my idea to the world but also to follow through and make it a success. The experience of launching LearnVest taught me the importance of having a clear vision, a strong team, and a relentless commitment to making a difference in the world.

At Inspired, we approach investing with a similar mindset. We are looking for founders who have a deep commitment to their vision and are willing to do the hard work necessary to bring it to life. We believe in long-term value creation, in building businesses that will have a lasting impact on society. We are not interested in quick wins or short-term gains; we are in it for the long haul.

One of the key factors that sets Inspired apart is our team’s experience in building and scaling businesses. We have been in the trenches, we have faced challenges, and we have come out on the other side stronger and more resilient. This experience allows us to provide valuable insights and guidance to the founders we work with, helping them navigate the ups and downs of building a business.

Our commitment to entrepreneurship is deeply ingrained in our DNA. We believe that entrepreneurs have the power to change the world for the better, and we are here to support them every step of the way. Whether it’s access to our network, our resources, or our expertise, we are dedicated to helping our portfolio companies succeed.

As we look towards the future, we see endless opportunities for startups in the fintech space. The financial services industry is ripe for disruption, and there is a growing need for innovative solutions that can address the changing needs of consumers. We are excited about the possibilities that fintech 3.0 holds, and we are actively seeking out founders who are ready to take on the challenge.

In conclusion, putting our principles into practice at Inspired means staying true to our values, supporting founders who share our vision, and building businesses that have the potential to make a real difference in the world. We are committed to the long-term success of our portfolio companies and are excited to see what the future holds for entrepreneurship and innovation.

As a judge at the Startup Battlefield in 2025, I would be on the lookout for a winning team that embodies certain key qualities. Firstly, I would seek out a founder who brings a unique perspective to a problem that affects a vast number of people. This founder should have a deep understanding of the issue based on their own experiences, giving them a valuable insight that sets them apart from the competition.

In addition, I would be drawn to ideas that are not immediately obvious or widely accepted. The best innovations often come from thinking outside the box and challenging conventional wisdom. A winning team should have a vision that is ahead of its time, envisioning a future that is both impactful and transformative.

Furthermore, I would look for an entrepreneur who exudes a sense of determination and resilience. Building a successful startup requires a great deal of perseverance and the ability to overcome obstacles. The winning team should demonstrate a strong sense of drive and a willingness to adapt and pivot as needed.
