Thousands March in Manhattan to Protest Trump Administration’s Immigration Policies

Despite the rainy weather, tens of thousands of New Yorkers gathered for the “No Kings” march in Manhattan on June 14. The march stretched 15 blocks from Bryant Park to Madison Square Park, with participants protesting the Trump administration’s immigration policies on Flag Day and President Donald Trump’s birthday.

Fashion designer Willy Chavaria expressed his excitement for the unity displayed at the march, stating, “It’s a rush of positivity to see our brothers and sisters of all colors and creeds stand shoulder-to-shoulder in unity against hate. We are a people of empathy and compassion. Let the world see us.”

Despite the rain, attendees embraced the moment with practical rain gear and creative costumes. One protester dressed as Luigi from Super Mario Bros. carried a sign warning billionaires, while another donned Marie Antoinette-meets-President Trump drag. Labubu dolls were a common sight, as well as familiar faces like Gracie Abrams and Richard Kind.

The energy of the march was focused, with chants of “This is what democracy looks like!” and “No king, no!” echoing through the streets. As protests against ICE deportations continued in Los Angeles, marchers in Manhattan rallied for individuals like Dylan, a 20-year-old student from Venezuela who was arrested by ICE officers just days after a judge dismissed his deportation case.

The stakes of the march were clear, with participants standing up for immigrant rights and protesting against unjust policies. The diverse crowd came together in solidarity, sending a powerful message against hate and discrimination.
