Chicago Man Arrested for Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Armed Robbery on Red Line Platform

Curtis Edwards (Chicago Police Department, CWBChicago)

A 19-year-old Chicago man, Curtis Edwards, is facing charges of aggravated robbery and attempted armed robbery in connection with incidents involving two women on the Sox-35th Red Line platform.

According to prosecutors, the first incident occurred around 7 a.m. on a June morning when Edwards targeted the women who were seated on the platform near Sox Park.

Edwards allegedly approached the first victim while displaying a handgun tucked in his waistband and demanded her belongings. Despite his threats, he left empty-handed.

Shortly after, Edwards targeted a second woman on the platform, implying he was armed and demanding her possessions. The victim handed over her makeup bag, but Edwards returned to take her wallet and iPhone from her purse before fleeing on a southbound Red Line train.

Last week, Chicago police arrested Edwards, who reportedly made admissions during an interview with detectives. Judge Shauna Boliker has ordered Edwards to be detained pending trial.

CWBChicago, established in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown, aims to provide accurate public safety reporting with more context and detail than mainstream media outlets. While initially focusing on the North Side areas, their coverage has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and more.
