Carolina Castiglioni Draws Inspiration from Childhood Memories for Plan C’s Latest Collection
Carolina Castiglioni recently delved into her childhood memories of summers spent at Forte dei Marmi, a picturesque Tuscan beach town that holds a special place in her heart. This idyllic setting, where she has been vacationing since she was a child, served as the muse for Plan C’s newest collection, infusing it with a sense of laid-back nostalgia. However, Castiglioni’s approach to design is far from sentimental; her aesthetic leans towards a more boyish, utilitarian style with a touch of artistic flair. “I wanted to go easy and pop,” she explained.
The collection features slouchy unisex pajama sets with contrasting piping, reminiscent of the relaxed summer attire favored by the Castiglioni family. Balancing whimsy with practicality, a crisp white poplin dress is reimagined with a low-waisted silhouette and puffed sleeves inspired by rugby uniforms. A crinkled nylon anorak is transformed into a dress, layered over a lace-trimmed slip. A leather bomber jacket exudes a romantic vibe, adorned with a delicate flower intarsia at the back. Meanwhile, a silky skirt suit is subtly padded to maintain its paper-doll silhouette, with tiny floral crowns adorning a flowing, transparent garden dress.
Drawing inspiration from her grandmother’s raffia totes, Castiglioni introduces petite crocheted pouches and baskets, along with necklace pendants shaped like toy sailboats and paddle boats—a playful nod to nautical themes that are characteristic of Plan C. T-shirts feature a painting of a flower vase created by Castiglioni, hinting at an upcoming collaboration with Belgian design label Serax for homeware items. As Plan C continues to evolve, the brand is expanding its horizons with the imminent opening of its first store in Milan.
With Carolina Castiglioni’s unique blend of nostalgia, functionality, and artistry, Plan C’s latest collection offers a fresh perspective on summer fashion. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as the brand continues to grow and innovate.
