R. Kelly Rushed to Hospital After Alleged Medication Overdose in Prison

According to R. Kelly’s attorney, Beau Brindley, the imprisoned musician was given his medication by prison staff on the evening of June 12 – just two days after he was placed in solitary confinement and given anxiety medication.

Brindley claimed: “Late that night, he began to experience dizziness, inability to walk, and unconsciousness. He was quickly taken to an outside hospital where it was discovered that Mr. Kelly had been given an overdose of his medication.”

After being examined at the hospital, Kelly reported that his legs were swollen, which he initially thought was due to blood clots – a condition he had dealt with in the past.

Brindley further stated: “He had been scanned for blood clots earlier in the year and was informed by the Bureau of Prisons that he would no longer receive blood thinners. However, the question of whether he had blood clots remained unanswered.”

Upon the discovery of blood clots in both of Kelly’s legs and lungs, he was instructed to stay in the hospital for 7 days.

Kelly’s legal team also alleged in the court filing: “Shortly after the diagnosis, armed officers removed Mr. Kelly from the hospital. He was denied a surgery that medical professionals deemed essential.”

The incident has raised concerns about the medical care provided to inmates in the prison system, as well as the treatment of high-profile individuals like R. Kelly. The musician’s health and well-being continue to be monitored closely as he remains behind bars.
