California Governor Gavin Newsom appears to have a surplus of leisure time on his hands.
Following the launch of his podcast earlier this year, Newsom has now announced the debut of a Substack page aimed at combating disinformation. One can only wonder: is a late-night talk show next on his agenda?
After all, itâs not like California has been grappling with the daunting task of rebuilding thousands of homes lost to wildfires or managing the chaos of a week-long riot in downtown Los Angeles.
How is it that this man retains his position amidst such pressing issues?
The Hill reports:
Gavin Newsomâs New Substack Initiative
California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has launched a Substack page this week, making headlines with his inaugural entry that criticizes President Trump in light of recent tensions in Los Angeles surrounding immigration enforcement.
In his op-ed, originally published by Fox News Digital, titled âTrump is trying to destroy Democracy. Do not let him,â Newsom emphasizes the importance of democracy.
âOur system of democracy was established in stark contrast to monarchy, designed to uphold individual freedoms and liberties so we are never again subjected to a king. This foundational concept, this sacred value, is currently under threat,â he articulated.
âHowever, our greatest strength lies within the people. Itâs time for us all to rise,â he added.
In a brief video shared prior to the articleâs release, Newsom expressed his intention to join Substack to âcut through the noise and foster genuine dialogue.â
Newsom even took the time to produce a video to promote the new site:
Just launched on Substack.
We must inundate the space and continue to dismantle the right-wing disinformation machine.

Newsom has a 54% disapproval rating in California, and LA has issued just one (1) building permit to rebuild in the Palisades after 5.5 months. Meanwhile, downtown LA has suffered through weeks of rioting that Newsom has indirectly encouraged.
But surely, launching a Substack will resolve everything! https://t.co/gqIDNLo9LO

With California facing colossal challenges, it begs the question: why are the residents tolerating this lack of focus from their governor?
