Donald Trump Considering Further Action to Stop Iran’s Uranium Enrichment
Vice-president JD Vance suggested on Tuesday that Donald Trump might feel compelled to take additional measures to prevent Iran from enriching uranium. Vance, known for his isolationist views on foreign policy, emphasized that Trump prioritizes using the American military to achieve the goals of the American people.
He noted that the decision to escalate action against Iran’s uranium enrichment ultimately rests with the president. Vance’s remarks preceded a statement by Trump on his Truth Social network, demanding Tehran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” and describing Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as an “easy target.”
Trump also commended the US’s support for Israel in its conflict with Iran, specifically mentioning Washington’s role in aiding Israel’s air superiority over Tehran.
Contrary to Trump’s aggressive stance, French President Emmanuel Macron cautioned against seeking regime change in Iran, warning of the potential chaos that could ensue.
While US officials have adopted a defensive stance in the conflict, they have assisted Israel in intercepting Iranian missiles and drones with American naval vessels in the Mediterranean. If direct intervention were to occur, it is speculated that B-2 stealth bombers stationed in Diego Garcia could be deployed to target Iranian nuclear facilities.
One key target could be the Fordow uranium enrichment facility near Qom, heavily fortified within a mountainside. Iran has expressed willingness to engage in negotiations and resume discussions on its nuclear program under the condition that Israeli attacks cease.
Since the onset of hostilities, Israel has launched multiple missile strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory missile attacks from Iran that have resulted in casualties on both sides.
