“Night Court” star Melissa Rauch recently took to Instagram to address the cancellation of the NBC sitcom after three seasons. In her heartfelt post, Rauch expressed her gratitude to the cast and crew for their hard work and dedication to the show.

Rauch, who also served as an executive producer on the series, shared her disappointment at the news of the cancellation, stating that they had explored all possible options to find a new home for the show. Despite their efforts, it was time to bid farewell to the beloved series.

The follow-up to the original 1980s sitcom, “Night Court” received strong ratings upon its launch in 2023 but saw a decline in viewership in subsequent seasons. Warner Bros. Television had initially planned to shop the show to other outlets after its cancellation, but ultimately decided to end the series.

Rauch reflected on her experience working on the show, describing it as a dream come true to play make-believe with comedy legends on a set she had admired as a child. She praised the talented cast, writers, and crew for their contributions to the show and expressed her gratitude to the fans for their support.

The series followed Abby Stone, played by Rauch, as she followed in the footsteps of her late father, Judge Harry Stone. Original series star John Larroquette also appeared in the reboot, along with Wendie Malick, Lacretta, and Nyambi Nyambi.

Rauch paid tribute to the original creator of “Night Court,” Reinhold Weege, highlighting the importance of the courtroom doors in ushering in endless stories for the show. She emphasized the legacy of the series and the enduring impact it has had on viewers over the years.

“Night Court” was created by showrunner Dan Rubin and executive produced by Rauch, Larroquette, and others. The series was a collaboration between Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.

Although the show may have come to an end, Rauch expressed hope for the future, hinting at the possibility of a reunion or continuation of the beloved series. Fans can only wait and see what the future holds for the iconic “Night Court” franchise.
