Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, a prominent figure in the community, is well-known for his activism and involvement in the punk rock scene. In a recent interview with Slug Magazine in 2021, Ah Loo discussed his radicalization process and how he uses music as a tool to express his frustration with the American system.

According to Ah Loo, he was radicalized by what he sees as a system in the United States that has always been fueled by the oppression of black and brown bodies. He strongly believes that these systems need to be dismantled in order to create a more just society.

“I remember a very significant point in my radicalization was being a young child and witnessing the murder of Trayvon Martin,” Ah Loo shared. “It was a stark realization that only white men were considered equal in this country, and it opened my eyes to the harsh realities of living in America.”

Music has played a crucial role in Ah Loo’s journey towards activism. He recalled a pivotal moment at a punk rock concert where a drummer urged the audience to take action instead of passively cheering. This experience deeply impacted Ah Loo and further fueled his passion for social justice and change.
