Apple Expands Generative AI Offering to Include More Languages by 2025

In a recent announcement, Apple revealed that its generative AI technology will soon support additional languages by 2025. The new languages added to Apple Intelligence will include English (India), English (Singapore), German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and other languages that have yet to be disclosed.

The rollout of this feature will begin with American English upon the release of the iOS 18.1 update. Apple had previously stated that localized English support for countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. will follow in 2024, with Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish language support expected in 2025.

However, there are some hurdles that Apple is facing in certain markets. Regulatory challenges under the Digital Markets Act have prevented the launch of Apple Intelligence on iPhones and iPads in the European Union (EU). Apple is currently in discussions with the European Commission to resolve this issue. In the meantime, users in the EU can access Apple Intelligence through the macOS Sequoia 15.1 developer beta.

Another major obstacle is the regulatory environment in China, where Apple is working to navigate restrictions related to generative AI models. The company is actively engaging in conversations with relevant authorities in China to address these challenges and bring Apple Intelligence to the Chinese market.
