An Ohio man made a horrifying 911 call, reporting his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter missing, along with their dog. Devin O’Brien, 29, claimed that the child had disappeared while he took a nap. However, authorities now allege that O’Brien actually strangled the young girl to death.
The incident unfolded on September 12 at a mobile home park in Sandusky. O’Brien dialed 911 around 9 p.m., frantically telling dispatchers that the little girl was nowhere to be found. In the audio of the call, which was shared by WJW, O’Brien can be heard explaining that he had searched the neighborhood but could not locate her.
When asked about the child’s age, O’Brien confirmed that she was three years old. It was later revealed that he was the one who reported her missing. O’Brien claimed that both the girl and the dog had been taken by a “deadbeat drug guy” while he was asleep for just 30 minutes.
“I need to report … I believe my girlfriend’s daughter and dog have been taken. I took a 30-minute nap, and I just woke up. Nowhere. I have searched our entire home,” O’Brien said during the call, according to the Sandusky Register. It was also reported that O’Brien has a history of mental health issues and has held various jobs since graduating high school.
O’Brien mentioned that his girlfriend was at work in Cleveland and that she and her daughter had recently moved in with him. He contemplated driving around to look for them, mentioning a nearby field. However, when officers arrived at the scene, they tragically discovered the lifeless body of the 3-year-old girl near the home.
This heartbreaking turn of events has shocked the community and left many questioning how such a heinous crime could occur. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death, while O’Brien remains in custody facing serious charges. The devastated family and loved ones of the young victim are left to mourn the loss of a precious life taken far too soon.
