President Trump addressed the media on Friday following his arrival at Morristown Municipal Airport, signaling a potential deployment of the National Guard to counter protests in sanctuary cities where ICE is conducting deportation missions.
According to , a ruling from the Ninth Circuit Court has effectively overturned a previous restraining order, permitting President Trump to maintain the deployment of the California National Guard.
In response, California’s liberal Governor Gavin Newsom initiated a lawsuit against Trump, claiming a breach of the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.
A US District Judge, Charles Breyer—appointed by President Clinton and the brother of retired Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer—had originally granted Newsom a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), asserting that Trump’s action to federalize the National Guard was unlawful.

In a celebratory post on Truth Social, President Trump proclaimed:
“BIG WIN in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on the President’s core power to call in the National Guard! The Judges obviously realized that Gavin Newscum is incompetent and ill prepared, but this is much bigger than Gavin, because all over the United States, if our Cities and our people need protection, we are the ones to give it to them should State and Local Police be unable, for whatever reason, to get the job done. This is a Great Decision for our Country, and we will continue to protect and defend Law-abiding Americans. Congratulations to the Ninth Circuit, America is proud of you tonight!”
Earlier this week, the President emphasized, “I want ICE, Border Patrol, and our Great and Patriotic Law Enforcement Officers, to FOCUS on our crime-ridden and dangerous Inner Cities, and those areas where Sanctuary Cities play such a significant role.”
When questioned about the possibility of extending his actions in Los Angeles to other cities nationwide, Trump did not dismiss the idea, pointing to his legal victory that empowers him to federalize the National Guard.

Reporter: Are there other cities that you’re going to try to replicate what you’ve done in Los Angeles?
Trump: Well, I mean, we got a big victory last night in the court, Court of Appeals, with respect to Los Angeles, but really the country, where Gavin Newscum, who’s really an incompetent governor, he’s just doing a terrible job. Between his fires, between all the houses burning down, his forest fires, and now Los Angeles; if we didn’t go to Los Angeles —and the sheriff admitted it —he had no control, he would have lost control.
We saved Los Angeles by having the military go in, and the second night was much better. The third night was nothing much, and the fourth night nobody bothered even coming. We put out that fire, and we did a great job of it. He sued us for going in and for helping him. We went and helped him. Right now, you would have Los Angeles burning to the ground. Largely, it would have already been destroyed.
