Former England seamer Steven Finn has heaped praise on Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah after his impressive performance on Day 3 of the opening Test at Headingley in Leeds. Finn lauded Bumrah’s ability to adapt to the situation like a computer and deliver precise results consistently.

Bumrah showcased his skills on the field by taking a fifer in the match, helping Team India gain a narrow lead at Headingley. With figures of 24.4-5-83-5, Bumrah played a crucial role in dismantling the English batting lineup. Finn highlighted that despite the availability of ample footage on Bumrah, batters find it challenging to decode his bowling style due to his unpredictable nature.

In a column for BBC Sport, Finn mentioned that Bumrah’s strategic mindset sets him apart from other top bowlers like Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. The former England cricketer also suggested that Bumrah would have been India’s preferred choice for the Test captaincy if not for his occasional struggles with match fitness. Finn acknowledged Bumrah’s decision to prioritize the team’s well-being over personal ambitions.

Despite a few dropped catches and a front-foot no-ball, Bumrah’s stellar performance on the field earned him accolades from Finn, who labeled him as the finest fast bowler in the game. The Indian team managed to reach 90/2 at stumps, holding a crucial lead of 96 runs with batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and B Sai Sudharsan at the crease.

Finn’s admiration for Bumrah’s cricketing acumen and leadership qualities further solidifies the Indian pacer’s reputation as a standout performer in the international cricketing arena. As the Test match at Headingley progresses, all eyes will be on Bumrah to continue delivering impactful performances for Team India.
