President Donald Trump took to social media on Sunday to criticize Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), calling him “weak,” “lazy,” and “pathetic” for opposing him on various issues including Iran and a recent bill.
Massie, who Trump claimed is not truly aligned with the MAGA movement, has been a vocal critic of the president, even going as far as introducing a bipartisan resolution to prevent Trump from striking Iran without Congress’ explicit approval.
In response, Trump labeled Massie as a “negative force” and a “simple minded grandstander,” urging voters to reject him in the upcoming primary election. Trump’s team is reportedly launching a super PAC to support a challenger approved by the MAGA movement to contest Massie in the election.
Despite Trump’s past efforts to oust Massie from the GOP, the congressman has managed to maintain his position, prompting Trump to escalate his campaign against him by funding a rival candidate through the new super PAC.
The feud between Trump and Massie continues to escalate, with both parties doubling down on their respective positions. It remains to be seen how this clash within the Republican party will unfold in the coming months leading up to the primary election.
