A Tragic Storm Claims Lives in Upstate New York
An unexpected storm in upstate New York took the lives of 6-year-old twins and a 50-year-old woman in Kirkland. Shelly Johnson lost her life when a tree fell into her home while she was sleeping next to her partner.
Early Sunday morning, an EF-1 tornado struck the area, causing devastation. The twins, Emily and Kenni Bisson, were asleep when a tree crashed into their home, leading to their tragic deaths. Their mother, Kayleigh Bisson, managed to escape through a shattered window.
Johnson and her partner, Eddie Hickey, were deciding whether to evacuate when a tree fell on their mobile home, resulting in Johnson’s death. Despite not being married, the couple had been close since childhood.
Friends and family have rallied together to support Hickey through a GoFundMe page as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.
The storm was so severe that Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency in 32 counties. The community is reeling from the loss of lives and the destruction caused by the storm.
Neighbors recall the harrowing experience of hearing Kayleigh Bisson’s cries for help as the storm wreaked havoc on their home. The community is mourning the loss of the young twins and Shelly Johnson, who were beloved members of the town.
Despite the tragedy, the community is coming together to support each other and remember the joy and light that Emily, Kenni, and Shelly brought into their lives.
