Martin Kove Apologizes to Co-Star After Biting Incident
Martin Kove, known for his role in “Cobra Kai,” has issued a public apology to his co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim after a disturbing incident at a fan convention. Kove expressed deep regret for his actions and apologized to Hannah-Kim for putting her in an uncomfortable position.
According to a statement obtained by Variety from Jaffe & Co. Crisis Management, Kove stated, “I’ve always respected her and considered her a highly professional and talented co-worker on ‘Cobra Kai’. I regret my actions and take full responsibility for what I did. I apologize to her and her husband and am committed to learning from this experience.”
Reports from the Puyallup Police Department revealed that Hannah-Kim accused Kove of assaulting her at a “Cobra Kai” appearance at Summer Con in Puyallup, Wash. She alleged that Kove grabbed her arm and bit her so hard that he nearly drew blood. After screaming in pain, Kove reportedly kissed her arm where he had bitten her.
When Hannah-Kim and her husband confronted Kove about the incident, he allegedly became defensive and lashed out at them. The police report stated that Kove claimed he was trying to be funny and that they often engage in playful fights on the set of ‘Cobra Kai.’
Despite the traumatic experience, Hannah-Kim chose not to press charges but requested that a report be filed in case of any future incidents. Kove, who played John Kreese in the original “Karate Kid” film and its sequels, was asked to leave the event following the altercation.
The incident has sparked conversations about boundaries and appropriate behavior in the entertainment industry. Kove’s apology and commitment to learning from the situation are important steps towards accountability and fostering a safe work environment for all cast and crew members.
