The Trump administration appears to be engaging in a peculiar game of political disconnect, attempting to sever the ties between two clearly interlinked events. Notably, the administration canceled an important classified briefing intended for Congress regarding the recent bombing in Iran. In a twist that would make even the most seasoned political strategist raise an eyebrow, initial assessments reveal that the bombing might have done little more than delay Iran’s nuclear ambitions by a matter of months.

CNN reported:

According to early intelligence evaluations, the recent US military strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities did not incapacitate the core infrastructure of the nation’s nuclear program. Instead, it is believed that these actions may have merely postponed the program’s progress by several months, as detailed by four sources familiar with the matter.

The intelligence assessment, which has yet to be publicly disclosed, originates from the Defense Intelligence Agency—an entity of the Pentagon. It stems from a thorough battle damage evaluation conducted by US Central Command following the strikes, as noted by one informed source.

.

Two sources privy to the assessment indicated that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium remains intact, with one source revealing that the crucial centrifuges are essentially “unharmed.”

In a rather bold proclamation, Trump declared that the Iranian nuclear program had been “obliterated,” an assertion that now seems more like wishful thinking than a reflection of reality. It appears he may have been operating on a different set of facts—one where success is measured by the sound of bombs rather than the tangible outcomes of military action.
