The Spanish TV forum Conecta Fiction last week featured many exciting announcements, but one of the biggest highlights was the sneak peek reveal of a teaser-trailer for Season 4 of “La Caza. Irati,” a franchise that is quickly becoming one of Spain’s most popular crime dramas.

The first three seasons of the show aired on Spanish public broadcaster RTVE, but Season 4 is set to premiere on Movistar Plus+ later in 2025. With a larger budget and a compelling mix of missing persons and murder mysteries, strong characters, and sharp thematic observations, “Irati” promises to be a thrilling addition to the series.

Set in the picturesque forests of Navarre in Northern Spain, “La Caza. Irati” is the latest creation from José Manuel Lorenzo’s DLO Producciones, a part of Banijay Entertainment, Europe’s largest scripted studio. The series was created by the renowned novelist-screenwriter Agustín Martínez, who has a track record of producing gripping stories.

Lorenzo and Martínez have been instrumental in the success of Spanish scripted series, particularly with the rise of streaming platforms like Netflix and Movistar Plus+. Their previous shows, such as “Raising Voices” and “The Gardener,” have topped non-English language charts on Netflix, showcasing their ability to captivate audiences with compelling storytelling.

“La Caza. Monteperdido,” the first season of the series, was a breakout hit, drawing in a significant audience share and becoming a top performer on RTVE’s prime time schedule. Subsequent seasons, “La Caza. Tramontana” and “La Caza. Guadiana,” continued to impress viewers and critics alike, solidifying the show’s reputation as a must-watch crime drama.

The success of “La Caza” extended beyond Spain, with a French adaptation called “Rivière Perdue” becoming TF1’s most successful miniseries in recent years. The series is known for its stunning visuals and gripping storylines, which keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Each season of “La Caza” delves into dark and complex themes, exploring the damage that adults can inflict on children and the importance of family and belonging. The central character, Sara Campos, undergoes a personal journey of self-discovery and redemption, forming deep connections with her colleagues and loved ones along the way.

With its mix of suspense, drama, and emotional depth, “La Caza” has become a standout series in the world of crime dramas. As fans eagerly await the premiere of Season 4, it’s clear that the franchise is only getting stronger and more captivating with each new installment.

Martínez: Exactly. We play with that ambiguity. Is it the Creature or is it a human being? The line is very thin. That’s the main question of the series. The audience will be constantly guessing and second-guessing who the real killer is.

As the premiere of Season 4 of “La Caza.Irati” approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating the gripping mystery and suspense that the show promises to deliver. With its stunning setting in the Irati Forest and a storyline that delves into local mythology and the blurred lines between reality and fiction, this new season is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The addition of new characters and the evolution of existing ones, such as Sara transitioning from a hands-on sergeant to a psychologist, adds depth and intrigue to the series. As the characters navigate a series of murders and the looming presence of the mysterious “Creature,” the tension mounts, leaving audiences guessing until the very end. “La Caza.Irati” Season 4 is set to be a thrilling ride through the dark and twisted world of the Basque-Navarre countryside, where danger lurks in both the real and supernatural realms. Producer Manuel Martínez, known for his work on the hit series “Tu parte del trato,” once shared his insights on the importance of suspense in driving audiences to finish episodes and characters to keep viewers coming back for more. According to Martínez, thrillers, especially those with a touch of horror, serve as a foundation for constructing gripping stories that delve into personal and emotional conflicts.

In his latest project, “Irati,” Martínez explores a world inhabited by a recent widower grappling with loss, as well as a group of rebellious youths who challenge societal norms. The interplay between these characters forms the heart of the narrative, drawing viewers in with the individual dramas and conflicts they face.

As streaming platforms continue to expand globally, Martínez emphasizes the significance of incorporating local details and cultural specificity into storytelling. He believes that a story’s authenticity and unique identity are key to resonating with international audiences. Drawing inspiration from his experience writing novels that have been translated into multiple languages, Martínez highlights the importance of infusing Spanish thrillers with distinct cultural nuances and character traits.

In “Irati,” as in his previous works like “La Caza,” Martínez pays close attention to creating characters that are grounded in their specific cultural context, setting them apart from characters in other international thrillers. By weaving together universal themes with local flavor, Martínez aims to create a rich and immersive viewing experience that resonates with audiences worldwide.

With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of the power of suspense and character development, Martínez continues to captivate audiences with his storytelling prowess. As he navigates the ever-evolving landscape of streaming content, Martínez remains committed to creating compelling narratives that leave a lasting impact on viewers, both locally and globally.
