Wisconsin Man Receives 35-Year Sentence for Murdering Sister Over Dishes Dispute

A Wisconsin man was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of his sister and the shooting of his parents after an argument over dirty dishes escalated into a tragic incident.

Gerardo Jimenez-Rico, 32, confessed to opening fire inside his family’s Milwaukee home on January 22, just hours after they returned from a monthlong vacation to Mexico without him. The dispute reportedly started when his parents asked him to do the dishes, and tensions rose due to ongoing issues with his unemployment status.

Jimenez-Rico pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide, attempted second-degree intentional homicide, and first-degree reckless injury, leading to his sentencing.

According to court records, Jimenez-Rico felt bullied by his family for being unemployed, and the situation escalated when his father and sister confronted him about the dirty dishes. He then proceeded to shoot his father and sister, with the tragic result of his sister’s death.

Despite his claim that he shot his sister in self-defense, an autopsy revealed multiple gunshot wounds that resulted in her death at the scene. His mother was also injured in the incident.

Jocelyn Jimenez, the victim, was remembered as a devoted mother and fiancée, leaving behind a young daughter who was her “entire world.” A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the child and the grieving family.
