Lydia Ko and Danielle Kang’s hopes of a successful run at the 2025 Dow Championship came to an early end after they missed the cut on Friday, June 27. The duo finished at 1-under-par, tying for 49th place and falling three shots short of the 4-under cut line at Midland Country Club.

After their exit, Kang took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post, uploading a picture of her hugging Ko with the caption: “My baby seester who’s becoming my big sister nowadays @lydsko.” Ko reshared the post and responded with gratitude, saying, “Grateful for you.”

The two golfers, who have a close friendship and often refer to each other as sisters, had opened the event with a 1-over 71 in Thursday’s foursomes format. They followed it up with a 1-under 68 in the four-ball round on Friday but still couldn’t score enough to make the weekend.

This was the third time Ko and Kang had teamed up at the Dow Championship. Last year, they successfully made the cut and finished T27 at 12-under-par. During the pre-tournament press conference for the 2025 event, Ko spoke about the special bond she shares with Kang, mentioning the fun and laughs they had together last year. Kang echoed the sentiment, expressing excitement about playing fun and happy golf with Ko.

Ko, currently ranked No. 3 in the Rolex Rankings and 15th in the CME Points standings, missed her first cut of the 2025 LPGA season at the Dow Championship. Before that, she had shown solid form in her previous nine starts, with three top-10 finishes, including a win at the HSBC Women’s World Championship.

Ko’s 2025 season results as of June include:
– Dow Championship (Missed Cut)
– KPMG Women’s PGA Championship: T12 (+5)
– U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally: T26 (+3)
– Mizuho Americas Open: T11 (-8)
– The Chevron Championship: T52 (+5)
– T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards: T35 (-38)
– Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass: T6 (-18)
– HSBC Women’s World Championship: 1 (-13)
– Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands: T48 (-1)
– Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions: 6 (-13)

Ko’s performance this season has been a mix of highs and lows, with a win at the HSBC Women’s World Championship standing out as a highlight. Kang, on the other hand, is still searching for her first victory of the season as she continues to compete on the LPGA tour.

As the two golfers reflect on their early exit from the Dow Championship, they will undoubtedly draw strength from their friendship and continue to support each other on and off the course. Their bond as “sisters” in the world of golf is a testament to the camaraderie and sportsmanship that defines the game at its core.
