A Florida pharmacist has been sentenced to life in prison for raping and trafficking numerous young girls, some as young as 10, during his trips to Colombia. Stefan Andres Correa, 42, was handed the life sentence after authorities found over 100 videos of him sexually abusing more than 50 children stored on nine cell phones, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.

Prosecutors revealed that Correa targeted girls between the ages of 10 and 17 in Miami. The predator was caught trying to board a flight to Bogota from Miami International Airport last April, where federal agents discovered his stash of cell phones.

Correa pleaded guilty to attempted sex trafficking of a minor and production of child sexual exploitation material in March. His actions were condemned by US Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne, who emphasized the severity of the crime and the need to prosecute such predators to the fullest extent of the law.

“This prosecution and this sentence should serve as a warning to any predator who is trying to travel through our District to prey on children,” O’Byrne stated. “We will find you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. A life sentence for this conduct is entirely appropriate. Predators such as Correa are a scourge upon humanity, and must be dealt with accordingly.”

The investigation revealed that Correa made approximately 45 trips to Colombia to exploit his victims, offering money and gifts in exchange for sickening sex sessions with children. The depraved pharmacist’s actions highlight the global and horrific nature of child sex trafficking and the importance of international cooperation to combat it.

Jose R. Figueroa, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Miami, commended the survivors for their bravery, stating, “To the brave survivors, your courage was the driving force in this case, and I hope that the life sentence of this predator brings you some measure of justice and relief.”

In a text exchange found on one of his phones, Correa offered a Colombian trafficker $75 to set up sex sessions with children aged 10 to 12. He also promised the girls an Apple iPhone as a reward for their compliance, according to court documents obtained by the Miami Herald.

The sickening actions of Correa shed light on the disturbing reality of child sex trafficking and the urgent need to address it globally. The sentencing of this predator to life in prison serves as a warning to others who engage in such despicable acts.
